Hello, I am starting out in wedding photography and wondered if anyone knew of good insurance companies for public liability and professional indemnity?
sally

have a look at Pavillion Sally, i've used them for over a year now. Reasonable prices and and can be transacted completely on-line. There's a range fo differing policies to suit your needs.

Also, try registering with E&L as a broker. They pay £7.00 upwards if someone buys there own Wedding insurance after clicking on a link on your website or quoting your registered broker number.

The wedding insurance covers most things that could go wrong at a wedding including no-show of wedding photographer!

Try Glover and Howe.

They'll do all your kit as well as public liability and professional indemnity.

I tried E & L but for some reason they gave me the heebie jeebies and I swapped. Not quite sure why. ;)

I am not recommending E & L for camera insurance just as a means of a little extra incidental income. It also puts some onus on couples to cover themselves for any possable misshaps at the wedding. This shouldn't, of course, be instead of the photographers public liability insurance.

Personally I wouldn't touch E&L with a bargepole, they are notorious for not paying out, not just for photography equipment but in the equine world as well.

To give you an example there are two equestrian vets in our area who specify that if you have a policy with E&L you must pay the bill the yourself and then claim it back from the insurance company, if you are insured with anyone else this does not apply.

I also know of a few golfers who have been stiffed by them as well.

The pavilion insurance is photoguard. It is the easiest of all sites. You can get an instant online quotation. The price instantly changes as you select/deselect options making it very easy indeed to decide what level of insurance to buy. You can buy laibility only or equipment only or both. you don't have to itemise all your equipment either. you get a generous discount if you don't take more tha 50% of your total equipment out from your home or studio.

The best site I have found. Just follow this link.

Personally speaking, Id love a fantastic TP traders account, where I can post all about my products and services in my own thread, for a bargain price. I'll certainly consider emailing TP immediately to discuss it further, because I did read all the rules and knew that spamming isnt allowed
