Having changed the website a few months ago, I was not happy at all, so I took the plunge and had another go.

Tried to keep it as clean and simple as possible, the galleries are compliments of jalbum, with a little tweaking to get the colour scheme to match the main template. There are several images that will be coming off [as I think there are too many in some albums] and a few yet to go on, but this is the basic outline, so would like some feedback before completing the finishing touches. The links page came with the template as did the custom page, and I have chosen to leave them in for now, though they may yet get binned as being unnecessary - I am not sure I am ready foir custom work and the links, well, its advertising for someone else innit

Finally, in an ideal world, I would like to embed the jalbum galleries within the main template, but my skills don't go that far, so if anyone can provide any pointers or even an outline script, I would be eternally grateful. However, for now, at least they look a better match than the previous effort. The headers/footers/sidebar are all js so there isnt a default or master template if you like, just the pages, though they can be adapted to be 'other' pages of course.

Anyway, link in my sig, be gentle, I am still learning. ;)

"I don't claim to be any great gift to the world of photography" Get rid of that bit Yvonne & you're sorted.

Site looks good & so do the images, will have a proper look through when I get a bit of time

I like it. Looks simple and elegant and very easy to navigate. It is about the pics not about allot of extras

Its a nice clean easy to use website.

One thing i will say is, you must get rid of the sensor dust blobs that appear on a few of your pictures, they only serve to give the impression that you arn't professional with the presentation of your images. (Which obviously isnt true)

No Problem there are some fantastic images on their, really like your HDR work.

Thanks, though you can thank Pete really, his tutorial started it, I had never heard of HDR until I joined here. Some are deliberately over-cooked, because I like the effect, I know not everyone appreciates it :naughty:

I think I got rid of the last few dust bunnies, images are over written, but will check again when I have my proper screen back, this lappy screen is pants!

Also just changed the navigation to make more sense - the 'up' button on the individual album indexes, now takes you back to the entire gallery index page, not the home page. I think thats works better.

I like the one of the boat at Sandsend. I take it that it's the Sandsend near to St Davids? It is such a gorgeous place - in the right weather. I have some nice shots of the area from two years ago when all I had was a 5mp Kodak compact. It's a place we wanted to go back to on our recent visit to Tenby but couldn't get the time to do it. Next time we are in the area we are definitely going back for a look and more pictures......

:D Not unless they have moved Tenby recently, or you were taking a very long way round to get there. Its Sandsend, Nr Whitby. Very Very Beautiful place...for the first time in years I actually enjoyed just sitting around on the beach [well, ok, on a concrete walkway along the beach, sand and cameras arent best friends] for about 4 hours just watching the world go by.

If you take a template page from your website and then into the main body area and drop in the following, it might well work...

<tr>
<td width="784" height="1000" align="center" valign="top"> <iframe src="album/index.html" width="780" height="995">
To view the Gallery, please use a browser that supports iframes. Email the webmaster if you are encountering difficulties. </iframe> </tr>
<tr>

Well, it does for me! (see http://www.brunelwalking.org.uk/Gallery.htm). Obviously you'll have to point it at the right place for the source of the album (taking care re relative paths etc), plus I did have a bit of a game trying to get the width and heights right to work on my site (there's an interplay with number of rows and columns of thumbnails and the image sizes you choose, but I know it didn't take long to play with some variants and resolve). What's nice about this is that it only refreshes the album elements, not the site template that wraps around them.

I started with advice from http://jalbum.net/tutorials.jsp, plus you if you go into the jalbum support forums and search for "iframe" there'll be a load more.

Thankyou, will have a good look at that and see if I can do something - much appreciated

Ah well never mind  The one near Tenby is one of those 'blink and you miss it' type places, not even on some maps it's that small.

LadyLens,
I took a peek at your web site
most impressed
very fast to load and I like the way the gallery pictures open
and the spelling looks correct - makes so much difference!

good luck

I like it... It's simple, clean and professional.

Well done!

Looks good, nice layout and a creative name. I get bored of 'Firstname Secondname Photography'...

Well as much as I would like to take credit for being creative, its more a case of 'second name-second name' - mine and my other halfs

But thanks to everyone for the comments, feeling a lot better about the new look :D

Plain, quick and simple. Thats a good thing. Good quick site but I find it shocking that you haven't put TP in your links page !! ;)

 It did occur to me to do so, but still not decided if that page is staying yet ;)

Why help potential customers navigate away from your shop front? You don't see a sign in Harrods window telling you the way to Woolworths.

Lovely, classy site, and fast.

On the custom page the 'Want something different' sentence should end in a question mark.

Layout works for me - nice and uncluttered. Nothing too abstract and very easy to navigate.

Which is excatly my point earlier that its just free advertising... however, I have a few ideas that might go on there that are complimentary rather than competition...so still deciding ;)

Will check that sentence, thanks :D
