Website Ownership?? Long Sorry!

Who's name is the website under who owns the webspace you or your friend and who owns the domain name?
This would in my understanding dictate who owns the site itself, you said you did all the work so i take it you have the actual site on your computer? or was it made on a website providers template online?

Thing is, it's not 'your site' not if you both decided to do it and split the costs, the other person has equal rights in it wether you agree about how it's managed or not.

If the domain name is in your name then you can cut the other person out by changing the access passwords and if you need to moving to a different hosting service. Be prepared to lose a friend if you do that though.

I'd agree with Hugh ^ I'd say that you agreed to go 50/50 with her on the setup (even if you did most of the work), so ownership is 50%.

You could, if you own the domain quite easily block her access by changing passwords, but it could quite easily turn messy..

Why not offer to buy her out for a nominal fee

If you said that you are not really thaaaat interested, and you didnt really see yourself putting alot of time into it, maybe it would be better / nicer to just let her take it over / buy you out! Do you really care of it that much to go and get this involved with 'sorting' it out?

Why don't you instead leave that project alone and do no more work on it and make your own site for your photography and or blog? Something personal to you that you can update as little or much as you like?....

:) good luck either way!

edit: If you had your own personal thing, you could use it to continuously build upon your skills and update it with the more you learn or appreciate!? :)

Find another celeb you like, build up a fantastic site on your own on the quiet then split from the old site officially and publically but nicely so there's no hard feelings.

Watch the old site crash and burn whilst your new site produces the sweet scent of success :D

why not ask if she wants to buy you out for £xxx then if she doesnt say well ok, im going to sell my half to whoever wants it for £xxx.

How much do you value the friendship, because anything less than a 50 / 50 split will probably cost you that at least.

A few months ago, a mutual friend and I decided

50/50

I would also advise you to get a dictionary.. head towards the F section and look up the word friend... because i think you need a long hard look at it..

I would say ownership is 50/50.

Deleting the original post makes this thread completely pointless.

Then dont bump it a month later :p

I would assume it was a sensitive matter that he didn't want left around to cause any further issues.
