Have you had a read through THIS thread, there's some good info on there.

If there's anything else that isn't covered on there then give me a shout.

im in the same place and have found Zenfolio to be the best when i juggled value / what it did for me give them a look :)

It's really easy if you know a little HTML.

Just buy the domain and some hosting and then look for a decent template you can mess around with to get your pictures up.

If you know HTML/CSS you can get exactly what you want, but if you don't, a template should get you started.

Have a look at 1and1.co.uk to buy your domain names, I use them and .co.uk extensions are pretty cheap.

When you look at a hosting plan, make sure you get the right one for your, I.e Enough storage for images and most sites will require at least one database such as MySQL.

I use PHP for my scripts with MySQL databases, currently I am using a Joomla framework, Its very good and free plus most of the modules and themes are free! But needs some prior knowledge to be able to upload and install.

With a little reading you can find out, not too difficult and can save a bundle.

I've played around in the past with Wordpress based sites using templates and Zenfolio. I found more flexibility to the Wordpress based ones, but for integrating image sales I ended up using Zenfolio for simplicity of the overall solution.

Zenfolio site in my link, Wordpress one here if you want a look.

Depends what you want from a website.

A site using a content management system to look after it all - such as Wordpress - means you just do the creative aspects and you can leave the geeky stuff to Wordpress.

If you want to try Wordpress before you buy domain names and hosting accounts, you can set up a trial site at wordpress.com
