The camera club I have joined seem to be in desperate need of a new website as the current site was managed by a previous member

I have no idea if they have userrnames and passwords and if they can move the site to a new host

It looks like they have a wix site, but it looks very unlike wix standard offerings. They also have the google email add on.

If I cannot get control of previous details they may have to go down route of new domain name and start again, and if this is the case can you please recommend a good place to start.

Its years since I did dreamweaver sites but I can edit html css etcand just want to know a good plan to start on

Can someone recommend a good starting point. A standard template site that can have addons with a forum
thanks

Sounds like you need a WordPress. Thousand of themes to chose from and is managed from a easy to use web console so very little knowledge of coding needed. There are lots of plugins available for media galleries, forums, ecommerce and many others.
The wordpress application has to be installed from the hosting sites control panel.
For testing and playing about with wordpress I am using and can recommend a program called Instant Wordpress. This program allows you to run and configure word press and he website from your Windows PC.

As above, no one builds websites with dream weaver nowadays (alright some do, but it's such a long way round)

Wordpress just works, get a decent theme and you can use your skills to customise further.

I will look for word press themes

I will just need to find a sensible web hosting package

There are plenty of paid Wordpress themes if you want a bit of the design already done and don't mind spending £40, Themeforest has a wide selection.

For hosting I use TSO Host (and I know a lot of others on here do too). Great service, reasonable prices and they do a 1-click install of Wordpress so you can be up and running in minutes.
