Hi all, I am looking for a laptop for in-law, she uses it only for internet browsing, online shopping and occasionally print some documents. I have looked into it and find 2 possibilities.

1) lenovo miix 300
2) Acer CB3-111

I don't have any experience on chromebook so I would like to gather some opinions from you all. If you have other suggestions, please feel free to let me know.

P.s. she would prefer a fast loading machine.

Thanks all in advance.

chromebooks are great if you are looking for a laptop primarily to access the internet, they are very secure (no need for anti virus and you can't do much to break them because there aren't many settings available to mess up. They all come with flash storage so loading times quick, the only caveat is that they only usually come with 16gb or 32gb of storage.

Printer wise, you can't install drivers on chromebooks so they only print to printers that support google cloud print. If your printer doesn't support google cloud print then your printer needs to be connected to a windows pc with a googlecloud print app installed on it but if that's the case then you are better off printing on the windows pc anyway.

If the printer isn't an issue I'd choose the chromebook. ChromeOS is a very lightweight operating system designed to do one thing well and that is to run the google chrome brower.

I bought an Android laptop for £170 (ODYS 12") that has a detachable keyboard so you can use it like a tablet too.

And printing is possible using the app PrintBot.

There are plenty of apps for when no Internet is available. And you can install your preferred browser.

But maybe a simple tablet is the answer.
