Hi what weather service do people use to plan a day out with the camera
I’m after something that’s locally accurate for things like if it’s going to be cloudy and wind speed
At the moment I’m using the met office site and the bbc app
This morning for example the met office forecast a sunny day in north Wales and the bbc cloud
The bbc
was right today
Is there anything else that’s more accurate or are those two the best there is

Almost all of them get their info from the Met Office anyway so you may as well use them! Having said that, I can see the sky over their HQ (the building is just behind the shoulder of a hill from here!) and their current info for Exeter isn't always what their HQ is experiencing!!! A couple of their forecasters are/were students of Mrs Nod (yoga) and when asked what the forecast was, would look out of the window to see.

BBC do use a different service now and sometimes it shows.
Met Office is usually the best with considerable detail almost hour by hour on the day which is often more useful than several days out.

I tend to use a combination of both BBC & Met Office, however if I'm venturing into the hills the I use the Mountain Weather Information Service.

I use the same apps. Most of the time they are close to each other but occasionally poles apart, if that happens I look out of the window

Windy is a league above the met and bbc, there's a website and app

I've used XC Weather app for a couple of years. I'm particularly interested in the wind/gusts. Seems to work well for localised weather.

Will get windy, Ventusky and XC apps
If I’m thinking about nipping out last minute locally I just look out of the window but also go out further afield quite often and plan a few days ahead and having an accurate forecast would make it easier to pick a day

I tend to use the met office but I've just added a couple of bookmarks to other weather sites thanks to those given in this thread

Windfinder works for me, and also includes tide info for coastal locations.

I've found the Met Office to be lacking in recent years, the standard Apple Weather app on iPhone has been more accurate, since Apple started using data from the Dark Sky app team that they bought.
