Can't think of anything else at the moment

Not bad since we moved in around July time with 2 weeks holiday in Brazil as well. So that is about it except we are having a chimney swept later on.

On top of that new sofas for conservatory new guest beds and bedside tables , new bed for us and new mattress for other double bed with all accessories and new curtains.
New car

So as you can see all our concentration has been on getting the place as we like it.

Next year it is attacking the overgrown garden and getting that sorted but we are getting there. Who said retirement was for rest?

I have to say Sue has been fantastic during all this upheaval, not many women would put in the effort she has to get it all done before Christmas. It has been her driving force that has made this possible.

But I wouldn't tell her so because I would get another bang on the head with a saucepan.

Phew!I am sweating after all that....better not let Mrs archangel see this or I could find myself with Similar list.....well done :D

.
So what did you do with the rest of the day ?

What are you doing later? I have a list I can let you make a start at if you like, don't want you getting lazy do we :-)

The average house construction project in Grand Designs seems to be a walk in the park compared to what you have done!

I've got a list longer than that for mine. I never started. It was easier that way ;)

What attracted you to the house? :D

Probably could see the potential for making the property exactly what they want instead of expecting to find one that already was.
Smart way of going about it.

Really? ... Amazing! ;)

Wow, Congratulations on your Lottery win !!!
Seriously though, well done.
We've just moved 5 months ago, and I've set a 3yr plan to reach my goals as far as the house renovation is concerned, but so far:
Workshop
Garden
Furniture
3 bedrooms
2 carpets
Wood burning stove
All ticked off the list - so much for retirement.....

Everyone I know who has retired is wondering how the heck they ever managed to find the time for w##king!

I drove past the other day and thought you had a few roof tiles loose!

Majority of that work is general everyday repairs/maintanance one would expect to come across in every house over a certain age.

To catch dirty minded individuals! ;) Lets face it, retired persons are beyond the AN bit... :D

The ages of man...

Try nightly.
Tri-nightly.
Tri-weekly.
Try weakly...

Been in our house just over 21 years and only started doing the big stuff about 6 years ago.

First new windows and boiler
Mancave
Soffit, facia and guttering renewed.
All upstairs bedrooms plaster taken back to brickwork and replastered, new radiators new flooring.
Old tired kitchen extention removed and all drains, down pipes renewed plus all new radiators down stairs. Plus hallway and old kitchen getting plastered mid December. Although we don't really have a kitchen right now as the original kitchen area will now have a wc.
Rear extention for kitchen/family room early next year with roof retiled. Once extention is finished the room/dining room will be stripped back and replastered leaving just some minor landscaping to finish off.

you are very clever quote" I drove past the other day and thought you had a few roof tiles loose!"unquote

You must have looked at the wrong house as you can't drive past my place

The first time i saw it on rightmove I fell in love with it. The outside design was the first thing, and it being at the end of a cal-de-sac but not so as to have car headlights hitting the windows at night.
Again we wanted a 4 bed house with en suite-main bathroom and downstairs toilet ( you know how long women spend in them, say no more)
Then was the double garage (we had this at a previous house) so both cars don't get frosted up at night. The garden was a decent size not on of these grass patch jobs. Bonus was a 48ft long garage on one side and half that with workshop behind on other. So none of this garden shed business as there is enough room at the back of the workshop. In fact it is brilliant could not ask for better

The workshop back half of garage right hand side (26x10 ft), there is actually another 2 foot or so behind with a chest freezer standing there

The garage and workshop electric need sorting as half the sockets don't work. Why? no idea as of yet

It is very quiet but not too far from local shops or bus route which is only 5 minute walk away around the corners the estate is all designed to have their own little roads into them.
Yes it needed a lot of remedial work but the basic structure was sound and only neglect let it down.
We were lucky to get it as it had only been on the market for a few days and 2 couples had already viewed but ummed and arred as to buy or not. Also another couple were booked to view the next day.

As cash buyers we went in with the asking price providing they took it off the market which they did. I suspect if we had dithered as well we would have lost it, and house buying in the south ? well they were going quicker than hot cross buns at Easter.
For example in just one day we booked to look at 4 houses, on the way to the first the owners withdrew it, the next 2 well pigs lived better and the last was sold just before we got there. It was like that trying even to get a house with cash in the pocket, absolutely manic. All new built or to be built were also sold it was crazy.
Now the work is done with new carpets has made all the difference, yes it cost a bit but in practice it was only a part of the price from selling our kennels and cattery with a bungalow on 2 acres of ground to buying this one

Don't forget we are only 10 minutes from the sea as well

Garage / Workshop looks good Bazza - I could do with one of those.

Don't think you'll get many birds on that feeder though ;)

Very nice Bazza :)

Phil

cuckoos live in clocks and need feeding, hence hanging up a bird feeder indoors. Just got to get some nuts to put in it.
