Although they look ugly, should I place watermarks on my photos on Flickr?

I place metadata on the photos with my copyright.

Entirely up to you. The criteria I use when watermarking for web use is - Are they likely to be of commercial value to anyone else? Are they of saleable quality? Do you sell them anywhere else? Are they unique inasmuch as no one else has taken one of the same thing or location?

All the stuff on my websites is watermarked, with my branded watermark. This is due to the fact that I do sell these, and the fact there have been instances in the past of the press stealing photos of this type (urbex) and not paying for their use, citing 'public interest'. I'm not naive, I know that watermarks can be photoshopped out, but a deliberate effort to do so for commercial use will result in a bigger bill from me when I find out.

Stuff on Flickr I'm less bothered about, apart from some of the urbex stuff from my websites which I also have there, which has my watermark on.
