Is this the first post for the 2012 Photo 52?
Hi Paulie, I don't envy what you have in front of you, but as someone who's just finished the 2011 Photo 52 I can tell you that it's very rewarding.
I like the black background and the light along the left hand edge.
For me though I think I'd like the light along the top edge too, just to help the phone stand out a little.
Neil
Wow that's a good early start, setting the bar high!!
I wonder if the iPhone needs to be larger and centred in a square image does seem a little lost in all that black (just a thought).
I had thought of a compass but.considering other ideas as well.

Hi Paulie , off to a flying start I see....you've set the standard....now just need to keep it up for 51 more weeks
Like the idea & the sharpness & the dead black background....a little more light to the rhs of the phone to define it from it's surrounding possibly ? A purely personal irk is the angle....my OCD hates that it's not vertical or horizontal
Care to share how you lit it ? Light painting or ocf ? or something different.....just being nosey as always wanting to learn
You can always reshoot ( ref your comment to Neil) & post another version now or on a reshoot week if you want to...no limit to how many shots you put up for each theme
Best of luck for the next 51 theme's![]()
with phone flat face up and pop up covered with leccy tape
as i`m not too conventional in my shooting Good shot! I like where you went with the theme.
Good luck on the challenge!
you PSSST!!.. paulie .. its cr@p ... how are we going convince SL et al that i'm doing the 52 with you submitting photos this good so early in the project....????
Great start Paulie, it's a great shot, I quite like it as is, but do agree with the comments made previously. Look forward to seeing the rest.![]()
Hiya Paul,
Well done you taking on the Photo52 challenge for 2011 and getting your first post submitted before the New Year
I agree with comments already made by others, so won't repeat. It is bang on theme
Believe me, 52 weeks doesn't sound much to start, but as the year progresses, it can be quite taxing (I know, having just completed my Photo52 for 2011). I will pop past to check on your progress and if you start to flag I will be there toyou
As Lynne mentioned you can always use this as and when a re-shoot card comes up. I remember doing a reshoot of my first post for this year 'Accommodation'. After all it is your project and you set your own objectives and rules.
Good Luck
Cheers

, at least yet
One a day for a month was hard, so at least i`ll have a week to sort something on this venture.I didn't even notice it was an iphone until somebody pointed it out :bonk:
I disagree with a previous poster about adding light at the top. In fact, I reckon it would even work with taking the line of light out from the bottom so the phone gets lost in the background!
Nice photograph PW, I don't think you could improve on it. Well done
Would I trust an iPhone compass? .... I don't think so... !
Anyway Paulie.... i thought all iPhones pointed towards Apple HQ?![]()

Cheers guys
Kev, if you knew just how bad my sense of direction is, you would understand that any compass is better than none, no matter which direction it points![]()
A very nice opener there. I had been thinking of ideas along the same lines, but don't have any of these new fangled phones. Back to searching around for my old school compass methinks.
Good detail in the photo, I cannot decide whether I would like to see some light highlighting the other side of the phone to complete the shape, or no light at all, leaving it as a more abstract shot. Either way, a cracking start and well done for getting in there early!

but a programmable compass?? ... does yours always point to the Fiddlers Arms though![]()

Me neither - and I've had my iPhone for 2 years.I didn't even notice it was an iphone until somebody pointed it out :bonk:
I was going to hold off looking at and commenting on other peoples' photos for this week until I'd got my own sorted, mainly because I wanted to stick to the idea I had in my head and not be influenced by what everyone else had done. But as it turned out, I couldn't stay away.
Anyway - Paulie, good start. I like it just the way it is. Sorry if that's not very constructive!
Me neither - and I've had my iPhone for 2 years.
Simple. Graphic. Sharp. A hint of red. Bold, central positioning.
Good start.
Cheers.
Great photo Paulie.
only another 51 to go.
Fantastic shot Paul. Good luck with the challenge.
Great start Paul, will be watching your thread with great interest.![]()

Paulie-W said:Week 2 : Fear
I went for "Don`t Fear the Reaper", as at sometime, we all gonna go. It did feel a bit odd laying on someones grave though, due to wanting to get the angle as if one was looking up at their own stone.
I know this one certainly isn`t going to be everyones cuppa tea but ...

Another quick post Well Done at this rate you'll be finished by June ;-)
I like the idea and the orientation makes sense. It just seems a bit too dark a little more light on the grace stone to make it stand out from the grey sky.
What a powerful pic. Very brave of you to lie down. The angle gives a very strong perspective of fear.![]()

You're certainly on a roll this year Paul./ I like the dark PP on this, more of a dusk feel to it.
Very brave idea!
I'd like to see a nice high contrast B&W of this!
