as i got some advice a little over a year ago as to ordering wine over the internet i thought i better share this with you.

i ordered a case from them before christmas 'o6 for my parents and it arrived, service was great, didnt have anything to do with them until october this year when i was phoned up out of the blue by one of their 'wine advisors' asking how id found the service as they;d sent me a voucher for £40 which i hadnt used and they presumed there was something wrong with the service, (i hadnt ever been notified about this voucher so i hadnt used it!), the bloke then said that the company would honour atleast some of it if i was to order a case from them, so i chose a case and got £20 off the retail price, this arrived and tasted fantastic.


now for the bit i wasnt told....... by buying that case i had signed up for them to send me another case (of there choice) every 2 months and for them to take for this accordingly. so imagine my suprise when my neighbour told me she'd had a case delivered for me just before christmas. i was obviously confused, the first thing i did was text my mum and ask her if she had sent me a case of wine (until i realised my mum used laithwaites not virgin wines).


so i checked my bank account, and they;d taken some money out!, so i phoned them up and asked why id been sent this order, he explained and after id denied any knowledge of signing up to this he did say they had had lots of similar complaints!


SO BEWARE OF VIRGIN WINE CLUB! i wont be using them again, for obvious reasons!
 
I hope you've instructed your bank not to make any more payments to them....however if they continue to send you wine enjoy it as unsolicited goods.;)
 
they have removed me from the 'club' that i didnt join in the first place


the thing that really annoys me is that their literature on there site says that you can buy as much or as little as you want and you are not tied in to anything...... or atleast thats what it did say......

atleast im not alone though, is there something like a wine magazine/forum that might be interested in this?


They did offer me a £10 voucher and to keep (and payfor the case) but i declined, as for me that would be like saying that im happy with them deceiving us! so i declined and they are collecting the case on friday, should i decork all the bottles and take the wine out? and fill it with ribena???

gotta say, though, that the special offer they lured me in with was a bargain

12 bottles of wine for £30 inc delivery (very nice wine too)
 
I would think the distance selling regulations apply here (if they still exist?) especially if you didn't actually sign anything.
 
Thats crafty!!

I've been with the Sundy Times club for about 3 years and had no probs at all. Keep getting loads of offers, had numerous free bottles too, can't fault them.

I'm also in a part of the club where they give you notice of a case they send every quarter, but they do tell you a month or so in advance, all you do is email/phone and say you do/don't want the case.
 
i did a google search and the consumer action group forums has one case of someone being ripped off like me and BB and another case of someone cancelling their membership and still recieving cases and as such i shall definetely be ringing my bank and ensuring they are unable to take further money from my account
