Yes, I know, terribly crass to blow one's own trumpet, but the temptation is just too great!
I entered a local annual photographic competition a while ago for the first time, which called for entries taken at a local nature reserve based around three differing themes.
The results were announced at the AGM over the weekend, where all the entries were on display. 34 different photographers submitted in excess of 230 images (many of which I though were outstanding). Having looked through them before the meeting, I commented to the wife that I didn't stand a chance.
When the results were announced, I received a 'Highly Commended' in the first category, and was chuffed to bits.
The second category had four 'Highly Commended' winners and then they announced the category winner. Me!
By now I'm in shock, but then they announced me as the winner of the third category as well and then, rather oddly, wouldn't let me sit back down again.
They only went and chose me as 'Photographer of the Year' didn't they!
Not a massive achievement in the general scheme of things I know but, given the exceptional standard of some of the pictures entered, I'm VERY pleased to have won!
