...but not really sure how straight forward this will be.

I can't recall what the difference is between 620 and 120. I know the size is marginally different. Will I have to just loosly wrap it round a 120 dev spool?

Any tips much appreciated. I've not shot the film yet, but just ordered some off ebay. Expired 1971!!!

Should I dev it for longer than normal?

Again any hints and tips much appreciated. When this film expired I was -15 years old.

Thank you for that. Glad it's just the spool that's different, means I can wind it onto a 120 patterson wotsit (I'm tired and can't remember the proper name:lol:)

I guess the actual deving may have to be a bit of trial and error with fingers firmly crossed. I've ordered 6 rolls so hopeully I'll get something useable.

Then I'll try spooling some 120 film onto the spools. No doubt I'll be cursing the things when I try that.

I take it you mean a film tank spiral. ;)

I've never developed 620 film, nor have I ever developed a film so far out of date either - I'm assuming it's black & white film you're talking about - but I'd recommend leaving it in the developer a little longer than the quoted times. But as for how much depends also on the speed of the film, so developing a 40 year old film will involve some trial and error.

You don't say what film it is that you're using but most combinations of film and dev can be found here ...

I tried using some AgfaPan 25 that expired in 1989 and it came out a little fuzzy and lacked contrast. It could have been the dev time or maybe it was because I shot it in a pinhole camera. I must try another role in something a little more modern.

I have a couple of rolls of Kodak Verichrome Pan BW 116 film to get exposed, dated August 1968... The Brownie 2A just arrived and checks out just fine so only trepidation holding me back!

I do know though that when I get around to developing it (or when I get it done) it's likely to be in a darkroom so the film can be "watched" as it is developed to make sure everything is OK - or as OK as possible with fortysomething film :D
