I didn't know whether to put this in locations or on here as it's perhaps more of a moan and exasperated eye opener!
Having been to Iceland on five occasions from 2008 to 2014, I've just seen some reasonable flights with Icelandic-air (probably the best airline we have been with on any holiday) we thought another visit in late October would be nice, which we have done before and can be a lovely time to visit....if your lucky with the weather
.
Our last visit was in March 2014, we stayed 6 nights in a Grundarfjordur hotel costing £650 including B&B and six evening meals for two, just checked six nights for B&B at the same hotel £1150...yikes! yes I know Iceland is riding a wave of success over the last few years.....but! Tried another hotel we have stayed at on three occasions in Myvatn and similar story. Not bothered to check car hire as I think it's now a no from us, which is a big shame as we both love the island. I know on TP Iceland is a big attraction and just wondered if anyone has similar thoughts/findings or is it just me being unrealistic and perhaps we were just lucky to have enjoyed Iceland before the 'mad rush'........which does seem to have come very quickly.
PS....please excuse any bad gamma as I'm useless at writing and getting worse in my old age.
