Hi all

I am looking to do some training on using speedlights. Can anyone recommend a course - either evenings or weekend day course - in or close to London? I use Nikon and have looked at their training but want to get some other ideas before I commit. I understand some basics - difference between iTTL, TTL, manual - and some tech bits like how to fire my SB-600 off cam using D300's IR trigger, but would like to get more depth and learn a bit more about how to read a scene, select correct power, bounce, modifiers etc. I have event photography in mind so really just want to learn to use a single speedlight properly before I get into multi lights.

Cheers for any help!

Not a course, but highly recommend Joe McNally's hot shoe diaries, very easy to follow, even for a simpleton like me!

Read the Strobist: 101 and 102 sections - they'll probably tell you more than any course...

'Hotshoe Diaries' is a good anecdotal read but it's not an in=depth 'how-to' book, more a guide to thinking about lighting in a variety of scenarios....

The Flash Centre used to run one. Check out who is running them as it depends on the tutor a lot more than the sponsor but Adam Duckworth used to run one for them and he's pretty good ;)
