I never print out my work but think it's time I did. Looked at some photographs a friend had printed and they look fabulous. Really want to see my work printed out too. Also want to build up a portfolio of my images :)

Want to buy a good quality printer. I have an old inkjet printer but the quality isn't good enough. Any suggestions? What do you use

I use a Canon Pixma MP510 which was about £70 just before Xmas. I cant believe the quality you get for that price, its as good if not betteras the ones I had produced from the machine in Jessops. I think Canon have replaced it now but I'm sure that for a little more you'll get real quality.
Oh and its a scanner and photocopier as well. Brilliant.

I've just had a look on the S. American river site and they're £165.00. We must have got some kind of deal because we bought a new computer at the same time.

I used an online service from www.lab35.com years ago - the pictures are on Kodak long life paper and look as good now as 5 years ago when they arrived. By contrast one's i printed myself with with either genuine or refilled cartridges and Fuji photo paper don't last more than 12 months before they fade or discolour.

My approach is to buy the best I can afford. The comparative tests come down to Canon and Epson for A3+ printing. With compact cameras £50 makes a significant difference, it's the same with printers. The more cartridges the better the quality is a rule of thumb.

With your portfolio, there's a chance that you are going to have to move house to accommodate the good ones. I don't know if the Queen has got the odd palace, one of them might be big enough.

Thank you all for replying and offering your advice it is much appreciated :)
