Here's a thought...

I'm doing some pack shots today, the client dropped the products off last night for me to start shooting the single shots this morning. The client was due back at 2pm with a replacement product (wrong label) and to go through the combination shots. It's now 4pm and no sign, he was at a meeting this morning and I've called his office to check and was told he was due back at 3pm and would be with me about 3:20pm.

I finished the single shots about 1pm and had lunch so I've been sitting around since waiting...

Would you bill the hours?

Guess it would depend on the circumstances for example is he a client that gives you a lot of work? If so then perhaps you could meet in the middle to preserve the relationship? If not then I'd bill full rate so it doesn't happen again.

You're a professional, if you can't do anything else while you're waiting then bill them. They are professionals too, they will expect it.

:agree:

It should also be taken on merit on how much future business you might lose if they're a regular customer... it's not worth billing £100 waiting time (for example), if you stand to lose £1000 in future business.

It's not worth cutting ones nose off to spite ones face :)

If youre registered as a charity organitation....by all means work for free....if not then make sure you get all your hours back in currency...you will most probably end up with next to nothing afer the tax man has taken his "cut"....therefore charge the client.

I guess I should have been clear as I was booked for the day it didn't make any difference really, I was just wondering how others would handle it as I was passing the time.

Client arrived at 4:20, I've just finished for the day - well apart from tidying up...
