Hi folks,

I need to get a couple of pairs of decent waders to keep by leggies and tootsies dry when I'm sorting out the rivers, ponds and ditches over here.
I have no idea who makes what sort of quality and how much I'm likely to pay for good 'uns....waist high or tit high, not sure what's the best.
Any keen anglers or swamp lurkers out there who can offer advice to someone who's only previous experience is green wellies.
Ideally I'd like to buy from Amazon as it's simple to get the stuff sent here but brand names may have crossed the channel if they're internationally marketed.

Ta in anticipation.....

hi bob

the ron thompson neoprene chest waders are pretty good value for money, but might be to warm to work in,especially in the summer months.i can highly recommend ocean chest waders..

really well made, and will take a lot of abuse...

Cheers Mark, I'll have a look at them......neoprene sounds fine, I don't intend to work when it's hot, just spring cleaning the waterways and sorting out any trees that jump in.

A quick glance shows that Snowbee have prices from £35 to £260.....what sort is going to be suitable for plodding around in a ditch/pond/river with a chainsaw?

 I'd be more worried about the chainsaw than getting wet Bob, you need a good firm footing when using a chainsaw, and I would not even start one up without a full PP kit! (since a very close call without it!!)

Personal Protection, not post processing:D

what the name of the BIG sports shop in France ... name escapes me ?

something like decathalon..?

A fair point Mal....I always think that the best PP is controlled FEAR.
As far as the firm footing goes....the mud in this part of France has excellent retention properties. I suffered an aggrevated mugging by it on a previous occasion and one welly was retained as I made off for the santuary of dry land.

Back to the waders.....
As relatives of the welly family, do they also have little folk inside who's sole purpose is to pull your socks of and screw them up in a little ball around your toes :(

Yep, Decathlon (the french can't quite spell it right :cuckoo:). I'll confess that I haven't been in a sports shop for years.....they always seem to be frequented by athletic youngsters....I'd feel so out of place, but I'll give it a go.
