Hi all,

Promised myself I will get into photoshop next year and fancy having a go with a wacom tablet, anyone use one and have any advice on what to go for.

Any advice on which size or specific model to go for would be appreciated.

Think I'll post a wanted ad in case anyone has one gathering dust.

Just want to know peoples experience with them

Cheers

Life changing generally. Some people completely replace the mouse with their wacom but I never got used to using one for UI stuff and always switch back to the mouse. For photoshop, etc. there's nothing to beat them though. I've used several over the years, starting with the ancient A4+ (12x12") with TVPaint on the Amiga and currently use a the little bamboo, every one a winner

I use an Wacom Intuos 3 A5 size. I find it accurate and very useful. Unlike many people, I also use the Wacom mouse that comes with and works on the tablet. It has a total of five buttons (including the one that is incorporated into the wheel). The advantage is that all the buttons are programmable; I can tune the thing to what I want.

If your budget cannot run to an Intuos, I would recommend getting a Bamboo; they are pretty cheap and will give you a real feel for (good quality) tablet working.

Anthony.

Get a smaller one to avoid having to sweep your arm across a gigantic (and costly) tablet.

I have an Intuos one which I think is A5. Its perfect for painting layer masks in PS. I still use the mouse for the lasso and clone stamp tool but I am a bit of a gimp as I use the mouse in my right hand and the pen for the tablet in my left hand.

i've recently bought a genius tablet for working in Ps CS4 and find it to be worth every penny, and i know what your gonna say genius are crap, but i just wanted to see if i could get on with a tablet before i started spending lots of coin on a decent brand. I can do things so much easier with the tablet it's unreal how easy it makes things, but i still use a mouse for the gui.

this is the tablet i got
