Well I have been playing about with the idea of the 52 for weeks, and each week the list of pictures grows longer! So I have finally got some images off the camera and onto Photobucket.

Week 1 Accommodation
This was only taken a few days ago. I had an idea for this theme but it didn't work out. We decided to take off for a couple of days R&R and ended up here - We stayed in the Wigwam, but as we were the only residents, we used the facilities in the bunkhouse. Ideally the picture would have been taken earlier when there was a better dusk light, but as we were also on 'holiday' it didn't seem fair to my OH to insist on returning to the accommodation just so I could get a better picture. I do, however, like the warmth that the buildings exude, they certainly were as cosy as they look.

In the week this theme was announced, we finally took delivery of our new defibrillators - many months later than was anticipated. We were trained on these some time ago, so it was a hectic shift trying to familiarise ourselves prior to using them "in anger" as it were. I originally wanted to take a photo of me and my co-workers 'training' with it, but as we were 'on the run' it would have been impossible should a call have come in to secure the equipment and get out there within our alloted minute. I did attempt to make it look as interesting as possible

This was an easy theme for me really. I looked up the dictionary and saw that style was also a part within a flower. One nice afternoon at the Botanic Garden later...

First time I've tried a shot like this. Didn't have a macro lens, so just got in as close as I could...

I am totally at a loss as to what to put here! I've had weeks to think about it and I still can't get a decent image.

Will give it another few days and if I am still at a loss, then I will have to use an alternate image...

AH! During my marathon still life session I found these while looking for something else. I present THE open ;)

Hi Vikki,

I love your number one, mainly because it brings back so many wonderfull memories of our holiday in November last year - we stayed at this site in our motorhome, just on the pitch behind the wigwam to the left of the one in your shot. It's an excellent location for photography.

2 & 3 have good DOF

I look forward to seeing the rest of your catch up!

Fancy bit of kit there in pic 2. It looks like a microwave with that dial.:D I wonder if it could resuscitate my burnt chicken dinner.

Hi Vikki,
That's a nice set of shots start to your catch up with your 52. My particular favorite is "Style".

Nice work and certainly all a good take on theme.
A belated welcome to tp and I look forward to seeing more

Martin:)

excellent set of images so far Vikki...and don't stress too much, ideas pop up when you least expect them! :)

I had the idea of this from the outset, I was always going to photograph nails. But I needed a macro lens which I was going to buy from a friend. I just had to wait until he was home from a business trip:p.

The original image was the words 'Hard As' written in nails on a mirror, but although the picture was good, I had a horrendous dust problem so the final image was annoying me. So I went with a macro that I had taken of one of the nails in the composition. I actually liked this one better than the original idea.

Everyone has one of these boxes that becomes a collection point for all manner of clutter. Mine has charging leads for various items, zips from leathers and other motorbike gear, various car air fresheners, etc.

I put the box on a stand and then lit it from underneath using a flash so as to give a slightly different look and perspective. Didn't quite offer what I was looking for, but I needed a soft light from above and couldn't find anything that would give me the light I was after. So this is the best of the bunch.

Cracking set of images here mate.. keep it up

An interesting set of catchups ;) I found the nail the most compulsive image, your clutter box didn't work for me  sorry. I agree with you that it really needed some top light. Your feather is certainly delicate, but I still prefer your nail ;)

Hi Vikki, just having a little catch up on your thread.

Hard...great macro shot & DOF ,lovely color as well ,makes a change from grey nails

Clutter...I struggled to leave any crit for anyone on Clutter 'cos the theme just didn't work for me but like where you're coming from with it .Agree with previous comments on the lighting

Delicate...what a great color & lovely macro detail  Slightly drawn to the greeny light to the left though?

Well I am still here. Behind as usual! I do have other shots in camera, but some themes do cause me to stall somewhat. I really must get out and get something each week rather than come to a halt because I am suffering a lack of inspiration. Finish and Trio continue to cause problems. Ah well. More catch up to follow... :bang:

Chaos. I thought at first that when the dogs shake off it is very chaotic, but once I photographed them I realised that the motion is indeed very precise. This picture shows that. It looks a bit like a lens zoom with the motion very much around a fixed point, but this movement is generated by the dog. He first rotates his head, then shoulders, then chest and hips and finally tail. I struggled to get decent shots, because he would not face me, preferring to stand behind me and try to soak me instead! Apologies then for the missing feet!

Thanks Doog. Have u met my boys? They were certainly with me at most DW meets although mostly in the car.

Certainly was chaotic running around the field trying to get him to shake in front of me while he was trying not to. Any bystanders must have wondered who was chasing who!

I can't say I have, as you say maybe they were in the car. It's usually just your hubby you had on a lead;)

My my what a nightmare this one was. Only decided on this shot this evening :shake: and only because I couldn't think of anything else. I did kinda think of it before but other people had done it and I wanted to come up with something different. Eh, no. So I am going to stick with my first thoughts and sod it if someone else is doing it too!

After taking the mutts out for a walk, I settled in for a rest and a snack before housework and dinner prep. One cup of tea, a glass of diet Pepsi, a banana and a fun-size Milky Way. Total = 2 ProPoints. Bonus

Another one that caused me sleepless nights. In the end I decided to post up this picture. Taken at my photography class, playing with a flash (manually set off) with a home made diffuser (piece of paper) and a snoot (another piece of paper). It doesn't really mean anything, just happened to be 3 stones, but I was enjoying seeing the different results by doing different stuff with the flash.

No reshoot here - Could you imagine where I'd be if I had to do another picture!

This one isn't immediately obvious but it was the first thing that came to mind for me when the theme came up. One picture I had taken from the get go - I just wouldn't post my pics up out of order so it had to wait til the rest of me caught up :D

The picture is Colin, a local pro photographer, who does a weekly class for improving your photography. It really is aimed at everyone and there is a huge mix of cameras and abilities. I just really enjoy getting together with others and having an evening of picture taking! Colin is a source of knowledge for me and I feel I have improved leaps and bounds since starting the class. He also did a Photoshop course last year - so I have learned loads from him!

No apologies if it is not 'on theme' for others because it is very much the theme for me!

Photo52KNOWLEDGE.jpg

Well technically this picture is pants, but it is purely for fun :p

I am currently 4 weeks into Weight Watchers so EVERYTHING is moderation for me just now. Actually the diet is really good, there is no hard and fast rules on what you can eat, as long as you stick with your daily and week points you should be fine. How you spend those points is up to you. What I have learned is that my portion control was all wrong and I was having too many 'treats' throughout the week. Put in less that you are putting out, simples! Moderation really is the key.

How to reflect that in a photograph? Well whether I got it right or not becomes evident on WEIGH IN! The scales don't lie...

So I give you ... What the scales see

Hiya Vikki,

Yet again another 52 project that I have stumbled across that I haven't visited yet. Just when I thought I was up to date  Anyhow, apologies for the delay in getting to yours.

I think you are doing a fantastic job and your photos fit the themes well.

I especially like the look of your face for the Moderation theme :D

The wigwam for 'accommodation' looks cozy, where is that?

And then the chaos shot just made me laff, that is so cool.

Well done and now that I have your thread tagged I should be able to keep up with your project.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Well again this was the first thing that sprung to mind when I saw the theme. Empty Head. But how to capture that?

I went out with my friend and we took pictures at dusk, using long exposures and running into the frame, fire a flash gun and run out again. Gives a very "ghostly" appearance. I was showing Cat how to do this and we did loads, using coloured gels over the flash to 'paint' ourselves in different colours. Because you could see the background through our images it gives the appearance of empty head.

Except we took all the pictures on Cat's camera and then we both went onto working opposite shifts, so I haven't got copies of the pictures yet. :bang:

So here's one I took a few years back when my hubby and I were on honeymoon in Las Vegas. The effect at this time was accidental. Taken on my dinky wee Canon IXUS 50. Great wee camera.

Hiya Vikki,

 that is a fantastic shot for 'Empty' and a very creative idea. I'll have to try that some time :D

It will be great to see the latest shots when you get them.

Cheers

Dawn :)

These objects are in the caravan site that I am currently in. They are part of a 'play' area so I am not sure if they are meant to be play items or some form or decoration! I believe they have been there many years. I think they are concrete drain holes .

I liked the way they sit very harsh and industrial against a row of cherry trees in blossom. The nice sunset was a bit of luck as it just appeared after I decided to use them as my themed item.

This was a hard one for me to be honest. A few thoughts crossed my mind, including a picture of a X but couldn't think of anything nice enough to photography.

The answer presented itself last week by accident really. My OH got a Groupon voucher for 12 cupcakes which I was very upset about because I am on a DIET!

So I give you WRONG - very very very wrong!

The picture was taken on my iPhone when we picked up the cakes. By the time I got to my camera there were no longer 12 cupcakes :$
