I am visiting Snowdonia at the end of May and would like to visit some nature reserves and would welcome any suggestions

I'm staying near Beddgelert so will visit the nearby lakes and of course attempt to walk up Snowdon but may need oxygen halfway up :)

If you have any non-nature suggestions to visit please let me know, perhaps some interesting waterfalls, etc

Thanks,

Hi Ashley! You could try to go up Snowdon using the TRAIN. Beddgelert is epic place to visit, I urge you to read story behind the name of the village before you go.

I think you will regret if you don't visit Portmeirion at this time of the year. Basically, all small villages around Snowdonia, but I would recommend taking time to visit places like Criccieth and Abersoch.

Thanks for the replies. I had a great time in Wales. Never got up Snowdon as the weather was never clear enough but was able to go to lots of other interesting places.

Caernarfon Castle was a great place when its wet as you go through a maze of 'tunnels' around nearly the whole length of the castle

Sygun Copper Mine was right on my doorstep, and a challenge to get decent photos underground

Thanks for the info on Aber Falls. It was a fleeting visit due to poor weather coming in, wished I had my wide angle with me for this place

RSPB Conwy had plenty to see, followed by a walk around the Conwy Town Walls

I spent one day walking up the mountain behind the cottage where I was staying and then into Beddgelert along the river valley. Very exhausting but lovely scenery

I also visited RSPB South Stack, Chester Zoo and RSPB Yns-Hir, but these photos aren't edited yet (I took over 8,000 pix in all)
Thanks for all the suggestions, if you want to see more pix from my trip here is the gallery link:
