Hi all, I’m planning a 3 day trip up to Newcastle during November and am just wondering if anyone can point out some places to visit with the camera?
I am thinking some of the bridges as it’s getting dark and have been looking at the coverage of the metro which seems to cover a large area.
I am going to be limited to public transport but don’t mind a decent walk as long as it’s not piddling it down lol.
Many thanks.

You should have a great time in terms of photography, at least! The Metro is very good and you can easily get to the coast at Sunderland, South Shields and Tynemouth. Also, the Quayside in Newcastle is great for photographing the bridges. Three days in Newcastle is a great photo opportunity. The bridges are great to photograph, especially after dark. Have a great time!

Thank you, I’m looking forward to it.

If you get a chance to get up the Baltic centre about sunset you may catch the twilight with lights coning on across the Tyne.

I was there for a couple of days in the summer. All the advice above but you might also capture the Angel of the North nearby as well. Do not stay in the Hilton as it was awful though the views of the bridge are good.

Thanks, I’ve just had a quick google and the Baltic centre looks a fantastic building plus the bridges nearby.
I’ll definitely add that to my list of places to visit.
Ps. I’m looking at premier inn at the moment so hopefully I should be alright lol.

If you are around on the Sunday, get the Metro to Tynemouth. There is a great market on within the station itself every Sunday. Tynemouth itself will be busy. There are also the abbey and castle ruins as well as views of South Shields, King EdwardsBay, Long Sands Beach etc.
Get over to South Shields too.

That sounds interesting, thank you.
I’m definitely glad I chose Newcastle over my other idea of spending a few days in Liverpool. I will put that one off until next year.

Thank you for showing those. I really like them and am hoping to capture some decent shots of the bridges etc.

The Quayside area has some of Newcastle's oldest buildings as well as some impressive new ones such as the Courts Building. The Castle and Cathedral offer some great opportunities, plus nearby are Collingwood St, Mosley St and Grey St, which used to be the commercial centre of the city with impressive bank and financial company buildings. Grey St is an impressive street for architecture; reckoned to be one of Europe's finest. The northern part of the city centre has two universites and the Civic Centre. This area has some very fine war memorials near St Thomas the Martyr church, which is also quite photogenic. I'm sure you will find lots to shoot just be walking around exploring.

That’s brilliant, thank you for the info.
