This is the most confusing VISA application I've had to make and still can't figure it out.

I need to apply for a VISA to go to Italy as a tourist. This is the page that I keep landing on.

But

The Consulate General of Italy in London opened its Visa
Application Centre on 16 January 2009.

This service is available to all nationals residing in the South of
England and South of Wales (link) who wish to apply for a Schengen visa
only for tourism or business.
Under no circumstances will bookings from people living in North of England,
North of Wales, Scotland and Ulster be accepted.

How do people in Scotland apply for a VISA then? There is no other information on the website that helps, they don't even reply to emails.

Has anyone else here successfully applied for a tourist VISA to visit Italy?

Just found this bit.

PLEASE NOTE: EU Directive 2004/38/CE has been implemented in
Italy. Therefore, family members of EU nationals who do not have
the nationality of a Member State, but have the new residence
permits issued by the British Home Office bearing the specific
following indication:
"RESIDENCE DOCUMENTATION
Type of Document: Residence Card of a Family Member of an
EEA National"
will not need a Schengen visa for a short stay in Italy.

Since when did you need a visa to visit Italy? Or are you not an EU citizen?
 
It's for my wife, who is from another country (read planet)
 
How about you give them a call?
