I had a V6 box installed last week and almost straight away the remote control started acting up working intermittently. I googled this and found a few others having the same problem, something to do with the fact its rf and infra red at the same time, the box is getting confused receiving two signals or something, i dont know I'm not an electronics boffin. I phoned Virgin who said they knew all about it and a software fix was on the way. A week later and its still not working so I phoned back to see whats happening. I spoke to a member of the V6 team on both occasions and this time he said he knew nothing about the problem, there was nothing on my call log about it and the only thing they could do was send me another remote to try. Has anybody else with a V6 box had this problem?

I received my new remote through the post yesterday and up to now its working. Another problem thats manifested is that during playback of certain recordings the box decides to switch itself off and reboot. Called VM about this and yet again its a known problem that theyre "working really hard to fix". Surely these problems should have been sorted out before the box was released.

Can I be nosey and ask why you got the V6 box, is it for a 4K tv? I'm just thinking of going down that route but I only have the Tivo box. I must admit this 4K/UHD thing is a bit of a fog to me when using VM. I am told that you still can't get the football in UHD even with the V6 box, am I right?

At present there's no 4k content on Virgin. The only way to get a 4k picture is through the Netflix app. Theres the advantage of being able to record six channels at once which is handy seeing as everything we watch seems to be on at 9pm, the menu/ interface whatever its called is WAY faster and I'm paying £20 a month less than I was before with broadband increased from "up to 50mb" to "up to 200mb". If your thinking about 4k, dont fall into the same trap I did. You need all your Hdmi's to be version 2.2 to pass the signal. I had my V6 plugged into a surround sound amp that had 1.4 hdmi and have had to buy a new amp.
