Yes
I work away in Scotland a lot so have a house up there as well as Huddersfield.
I pop my missus on the train every other weekend for a trip north.
It generally costs £55 return being off peak-ish.

Lately though there have been quite a few train delays, sometimes 20mins sometimes 2hours which is frustrating.

But each time we just complete the complaints precedure on the website and include scans of the tickets and a voucher gets posted out for £35-£45.

So far most trips are working out about £15 for a return :)

Isnt it a requirement to reimburse for delays now?

SWT used to do it when I renewed my season ticket, they'd take off any applicable refunds for delays/cancellation from the cost of the renewal.

I think it is Neil I am just surprised how easy it is with Virgin.

It's even easier if you book the ticket online through them - you don't have to do anything - you get an email through telling you you will be getting recompense for your delayed journey , then another saying it's being processed, and then the final one saying they have put it into your bank !

I did see that on a recent email, could be great :-)

They'll be paying out a bit over the next several day probably as virtually no trains running between Carlisle and Glasgow Central or edinburgh

Do they offer a cash refund or voucher only? I got a cash refund for a delayed eurostar last year but the rebate was much lower for cash than a voucher, but I dont travel eurostar often enough to take the voucher option.

Can only answer for Virgin - my delay was literally just over 1 hour - and the refund to my bank was the cost of that journey

i think over 30 mins delay you get 60% back

Getting a refund from Thameslink is a nightmare, let me tell you!
