Yes
I find it a little difficult to get the manual focus spot on due to being a bit short sighted. It's either a little over, or a bit under focus.
Sometimes I get it correct. Auto focus is a Godsend...I recently discovered that you can get a viewfinder magnifier that slips over the viewfinder.
Do any of our members use them? Are they any good?

I take it you have tried the diopter adjustment?

Yes, I tried that.. It just seems that things are too far away to get a precise focus

in manual focus mode and in live view, press the magnify button (once = 5 times magnification, twice is 10 times) see if that helps

Have a look here http://dslrcontroller.com/ its a bit of software that enables you to control your camera using a tablet or smartphone.
Its quite good but you need 3 hands or a tripod

I use a Nikon magnifying eyepiece and find that helpful :)

That sounds more like it Gramps. Will look into it!

Do these still allow you to view the whole frame?

Good question ... I don't have a definitive answer but there is nothing on the accompanying documentation that indicates otherwise and I would expect there to be if there was a reduction in view.
