I have been thinking up some ideas for my website and how I can make it slightly different to most of the photographic portfolio sites that are out there.

I was wondering what everyone's thoughts might be of having a video in the about section instead of text or even having it along side some text about myself? The video would be 2-3 minutes long and would be of me saying what I do, what I have done and what the site is about. Whilst also pointing them towards the blog/ contact info. .

I haven't really seen it done before but the idea intrigues me... and your thoughts would be helpful :D
 
Lots of photographers are doing it... seems pretty cool... if you can make friends with a good videographer. :)

I will try and make it like a question and answer sort of thing. Flash up a question and I would answer it...

Perhaps a few explosions to make it interesting for you? :P
 
Can you seriously make it look at least as good as your photography.

If you can't, scrap the idea.

I believe that I can, I have done some video work and have got some nice constant studio lights I would use. I would obviously show it to my friends/ family before I actually put it up...
 
Have heard of several people thinking about doing this. Sounds horrible to me, and not something I can see people wanting to watch. Though it depends who your target are I suppose.

If I'm sat in an office flicking through 20 photographers to find one for a job, do I really want to stop for 5 minutes and listen to one of them waffle on about themselves? Not really. It would be easy to come across as a bit pretentious as well.
