Yes
I use my 650D for Video occasionally, but when I use on auto focus I can always hear the focus hunting on the video playback.

Has this been addressed on more recent models?

I believe that to avoid that you'll need an external mic.

it's not anything to do with the camera body, but the lens- a lens with silent focussing would resolve this problem

I think that's right. Canon's "STM" lenses are silent and therefore more suitable for video.

it's not even that- the USM lenses are pretty much silent too- it's just that if you're using an af lens like the 18-55, it sounds like an angry wasp when focussing
afaik the STM lenses are just smoother at focussisng so more suitable for video, perhaps they are even quieter than the USM lenses, but, those are quiet enough

Thanks for your replies. I have been using an EF-S 17-55mm and it does make a noise although not unbearable. Manual focus is quite tricky when outside as I find it difficult to see the screen well enough to get a good focus.
