Beginner Video editing software

I want a very simple video editing software to edit (really simple just cut bit out of long video) and export to smaller size video. Video taken with a lumix LX100.
Best all free and simple option?

For windows 7, no tablet/phone thingy.

What about Windows Movie Maker? You may need to convert the LX100 AVCHD files first though using something like this.

Just tried and it did the trick:
-download for windows 7
-then 15 minutes wondering why the screen on the lft was just black
-left click on windows maker>propertie>compatibility>windows 7
-trim the video
-export to win 7 720p preset reduced my video from 500MB to 60MB

Good enough for today, Lightroom didn't want to import these or even look at them for some reason.
