My friend runs a stunt company . Basically, they are a stunt team, with bikes and cars that perform all over the country.

They need a promo video, but are looking for it to be done on a budget. At first they suggested running a competition, getting lots of cameras filming stunts and stuff, then submitting their work, and the best winning the deal. (Don't think this is my idea ok!!) Or possibly, more than one togs used in one film...

Or....having someone with an assistant (Two cameras) to film stuff and be paid a small fee, but he seems to think more cameras would be needed.

All props and 'fabulous extras/fireballs and wierd stuff would be provided apparently.

I'm not sure how this will work, but I said I would post, which I have

Apparently this film will be a big deal, and will be seen by millions (his words) and could 'make somebodies career'.....

If anyone is interested, please post and I'll try to get you any more info you need.

Whereabouts in the country are they looking to shoot this?

Yeah right! That old chestnut. Not the film-maker, that's for sure :cuckoo:

(Comment directed at 'him', not you Tori :))

Dave, I will find out, sorry, I didn't ask. Chris, lol, thanks for understanding. To be fair, it's a pretty big outfit, but I can't possibly say what it would do for anyones career

If he wants a top notch promo video then he should hire a top notch company/person to do it for him. What is his budget, requirements etc...? The more information he provides the better.

I don't like the competition idea tbh, for a few reasons that I wont go into.

Depending on location, and when, I might be interested to act as an assistant for this.

I think my friend is going to contact Tom when he has more information. Thanks :)

Gadget show did something similar. Got lots of people together to shoot something or other then mixed in their footage with the more pro footage from the cameras they were using. They used all consumer models and the result was pretty good. Proves crowd sourcing can work.

Getting reasonable footage won't be the problem. It will be the editing it into something worthwhile. Local schools and colleges might be interested in it as a project with some kind of prize for the winner?

As far as I'm aware, they're still working on story boards or something. I've told him to pull his finger out and contact you ok? :)

editing together random 'submitted' footage is a colossal pain in the rear, especially with the backwards ratios that iphones et all shoot... it doesn't look all 'crowdsourced', it just looks bad...

I'm not sure what he has planned as yet. I'm sure it'll be great whatever it is.
