I have a lot of AF and prime Nikon lenses and pro fx bodies that I use for all sorts of photography , wildlife , landscape, sport.

I would like to try video but non of my bodies have video, the reason I am leaning towards a camcorder is for the slow zoom facility ( used sparingly ) it can add a dimension if used tastefully.

I'd like a decent zoom range but realise that the larger camcorders have much shorter zooms than the 50x plus the compact camcorders have.

Im also thinking going the Nikon D500 direction ...............I need some expert advice and some experienced views on the pro's and cons of the camcorder and DSLR

Thanks.

Have a look at the new Panasonic fz2500. (Announced today) For the price of a good Nikon lens it will give you up to 4k video with no internal record time limits, it has a great zoom for wildlife filming, and image stabilization, it's 1" sensor may not be as big as your pro Nikon bodies, but these new Sony made sensors are producing fantastic results.
The Sony rx10iii is also worth a look if you can stretch to £1500, It's got a 600mm equivalent focal length zoom which should be handy for wildlife filming.
The size and weight of these new generation bridge cameras, coupled with their amazing optics, more than makes up for their smaller sensor sizes in my opinion. Who needs a kit bag full of expensive lenses and a tripod these days. Travel light, and get the shot !!!
The days of 35mm dslr's. Are coming to an end.
