If I where to buy a tune in iTunes would I then be allowed to use it as the video soundtrack that o making? Or is that still classes as illegal?

No, you're buying a licence to listen to the music for personal use, same as when you buy a CD.

Iam quite surprised about the number of videos on youtube that use chart music to promote a company! Don't youtube clamp down on this?
