If all I intend on doing in Photoshop is sport healing, high-pass filtering, some minor dodge and burning and some very minor curve tweaks, is there any real world benefit in saving my lightroom DNG edits as 16 bit tiff over 8 bit?

Stick with 8-bit. You know you want to.

Seriously, I wouldn't worry unless you wanted to do tons of processing and/or were aiming for high-end output of some kind (huge prints or pre-press).

Since you are exporting from Lightroom, I presume your original is raw? in which case you always have your original raw file available if you decide you want to re-edit.
If you are just doing simple adjustments then I can't see why you need to use Photoshop anyway, since all those things can be done in Lightroom.

Regarding exporting from LR, it's Adobe's recommendation that
"The TIFF format provides greater compression and industry compatibility than Photoshop format (PSD), and is the recommended format for exchanging files between Lightroom and Photoshop.
In Lightroom, you can export TIFF image files with a bit depth of 8 bits or 16 bits per channel., when exporting from LR into Photoshop."
