I am in the process of trying to set up an exhibition - if it comes off I will need to print large images of my photos for display in an indoor public place, which is ostensibly a large space (no walls). I was wondering if anyone had any advice as to who to go to for printing or any ideas of presentation? (by large I mean A2 up to about 5 feet across).

I have seen canvas type stands in use where the whole stand is wrapped in fabric which is printed and has a matte texture - I have also seen white walls with prints hung on them a la normal gallery - I have a feeling glass will not be allowed, so am leaning towards to former suggestion, but any thoughts or ideas are most welcome. I'm being deliberately a bit vague about content and location for good reason (sorry!), so am more after generating ideas than matching my images to a format. Good supplier suggestions especially welcome! Many thanks.

There's a whole load of different options that you can pick from.. It depends on the look you're after and your budget.

If you're after something affordable, then I would go for a laminated print mounted onto Foamex... For a nicer look, then I would look to go for an acrylic print.

Thanks guys. I do have some Whitewall di-bonds at home and I really like them - I'll need to get sponsorship and if I can cover the cost of di-bonds that's what I'll do. Was thinking about giant stretched canvases too, where the whole thing is a stand with canvas wrapped on it - any ideas of good suppliers for them?

I think the backing has to be white, as you can't print white particularly easily - otherwise all the white bits in your image would be the wrong colour.

Thanks Charlotte, they look great.

Judging from Whitewall's blurb it does sound as though the enamel does form a white starting surface. The reason I asked is that other suppliers print straight onto aluminium - there's no white starting surface so anything white in the image is replaced by the aluminium itself. The 'Butlerfinish' here is an example - http://www.posterxxl.co.uk/products/alu-dibond/your-photo-on-alu-dibond.html.
