Thank you!! :p

Hi Laura, well cue the nikon v canon bloggers. both make excellent entry level cameras and pound for pound they are pretty similar, the best thing to do is to get down your local shop tell them what your budget is and get a feel of them. whichever you like the most then thats the path you choose. happy shopping.

Are you looking for a SLR? Which is for film or dSLR for digital?
TO me look at them and feel one in your hands AS you can see I am a Canon man have been for years.

x2. Don't be swayed by what people in magazines or on forums use, or indeed by what special offers are on. Go to a local camera shop and try out the cameras - be it Sony, Nikon, Canon, Pentax etc, only you will know which you prefer using. Have half an eye on the future by knowing what lenses are available and their relative cost, but this should be a secondary consideration to the feel of the camera.

Best to pop to a local shop and have a feel of the cameras in your price range but if you want something for beginners have a look at the Nikon D3000, has a clean looking user friendly Guide Menu although no live View ( SLR terminology for using LCD to compose a picture) it is aimed at those upgrading to DSLR. Nice compact size too.

First question - what has lead you to want a dSLR?
