Trying to cut a pair of eyes out in CS4, Iusing the lasso tool but how do I copy it to another layer? Copy & Paste doesnt seem to work :o

Once you have made your selection, go to:

Layer>New>Layer via copy (if you want to leave the eyes intact on the original layer)

or Layer>New>Layer via cut (if you don't)

Keyboard shortcuts for those are CTRL+J or SHIFT+CTRL+J respectively (on a PC)

Yeah cheers guys, I know how to make the selection in PS and play with layers etc. But when I try to copy if nothing is happening :s

so you have CS4, yet are asking a "very simple quesion?"

Just wonder why you spent £600+ on software, you don't know how to use........;)

Yeah I know, you got with this one sssssshh :o

Ive cut an eye out, which iam working on from a cat.

But each time I change the hue/saturation, then view all the layers, the hue/saturation changes on every layer and not just the eyes. Could someone explain what Iam doing wrong?

How are you doing the hue / sat adjustment?

If you're doing it by applying an adjustment layer, then it will affect all layer beneath it. You can apply a mask though.

If you select the layer with the eye on, then go to

Image>Adjustments>Hue / Sat

This should make changes to the selected layer, however, once you've committed to the new settings, you'll be unable to adjust them.
