Im off to Venice on Valentines day. :woot:

Im going mostly for the masquerade but obviously want to take in as much as I can in the 5 days Im there.
Will have car hire so can travel to surrounding areas.
Anyone been, know of things/places that I must do/see.

Also, Im not sure about what to take lenswise.
Apart from my 100mm macro, which I plan to leave behind... I only have the following lenses 17-40 f/4, 50mm f1.4 and 85mm f1.8.
Im thinking to take all 3, would you?

Lucky you (we're off to Rome for our 10th this year)

Venice is stunning.
You can't go wrong. .. Squares/Piazza's, bridges, towers, architecture, glass blowing....

Been there twice once with the misses and once with a mate. First time was toooo hot 36c and humid. 2nd time wasnt exactly romantic, but was very camera friendly as we are/were both 'togs.

Thanks for your input Paul.
The only comments Ive had from friends so far are 'You know the air is putrid there dont you' :(

Been to Rome a couple of times, fantastic place, again for the architecture ... and a fountain on every corner, lol!
Hope you enjoy

I'd go with all 3 Glo, you'll find you may have 17-40 on all the time, as its kinda everything on top of each other sort of, a nice wide angle standing close to your subject sort of thing. I would go to the islands of murano and burano (SP) I quite enjoyed them, quiant little coloured houses and lots of glass!!

Have a good time!! on the side of caution, keep a firm grip on the cam ;) just incase!!

Take me! Take me! :D

Anything you must take to venice.........wellies!

Silly people built their roads out of water

Take me! Take me! :D

Yeah ! ME TO !!!! i love Venice! :D I went there for my 30th, got some good B+W shots, have a lovely time, Rialto Bridge is lovely. Have you got a guide book? a good one is essential if you are only going for a few days, make sure you dont miss anything. . . . . lastly look down as well as up, some of the mosaic flooring is spectacular. Have a lovely, and romantic time!!!

Thanks for the replies peeps,

Ladybird, thanks for reminding me ... havent got a guide book yet but off shopping at the Merry Hell (local nightmare shopping centre) in a little while so will pick one up.

Glen, have now packed all 3 lenses into my nightmare Lydl camera bag ... which I hate! no lets make that a bit clearer ... I really HATE that bag (stamps foot). Me & that silly bag are going to fall out bigstyle while Im away, & first thing Im buing on my return is a Mini Trekker!

Kamion, if you can squeeze into my little trolley un-noticed it would be fun to meet you!

DF .... have packed the big boots ... but they sure arent wellies! :naughty:

Why not buy a bag before you fly off? Or check the prices now and have a look at duty free stores or over at Italy. Maybe you can grab a bargain while out there. Prada or Gucci camera bag? :naughty:

Right, I'll go look for my re-size ray gun in my attic tonight. :D

oh I am soo jealous Glo.....will there be time for photography what with those boots and all?? :naughty:
