Velbon Sherpa 600 tripod

is this a good tripod? i have a basic budget one at the moment

Looks quite heavy at 2kg and not the most portable at 63cm folded height but, besides that, seems perfectly adept at its task. Good spot, it's tempted me!

i have put one buy in my local branch, and will go tomorrow to have a look.

lets just hope they dont do like they did with the memory cards and say the pc stock check is wrong and they have not got any.

You should not get the 450R as that has a geared centre column and the description states it is a sliding column which you can remove.

I ordered one from London Strand as they had them in stock :):)
I telephoned the store before making a 1hr round trip to be told that they did not have any.

I have now ordered one from Croydon North End but I am not really hopeful.

I just thought that it would be a good birthday present for my son.

b****r, i bought a sherpa 435R literally yesterday, would have considered that one, to be fair its less carry-friendly than the 435 thoug but still a big saving, maybe a backup tripod for hardcore users? :)

my local jessies has a 600r for £29.00. I'm contemplating buying it as a back up.

picked mine up today.

it is the 450r

i said about the 600r, but they said it was the 450 that was on offer.

anyway for jusy over £27 it is pretty good i think :)

thanks
ian

Nothing to stop you returning the Sherpa 435R (if on the internet, you have a 7-day cooling off period; if in store, the store will almost certainly have a no-questions 14 or 28 day period) and taking advantage of the Jessops offer. :suspect:

I've had the 600R for about a year now.

It's a decent sturdy tripod. You'll not beat it at that price.

I just picked up a 750R from Maidenhead Jessops and it is great! Cannot believe the price and neither could the lady in the shop

Oddly they have the 600 and the 450 in there both still at full price

Popped into local Jessops to have a look

Its gone:eek:, the whole shop shut, vanished

Dunno when, it was there the other week:suspect:

After being messed about like you wouldn't believe by Jessops, I finally managed to pick up my £29.00 Tripod today and it's a 750R, absolutely magic and at double the price it would have been a brilliant buy. Thanks for the point in the right direction.....got there in the end.

Just saw over at HUKD a post that Jessops have reduced the Velbon Sherpa 600 tripod from £89 to £29, available for store collection only. (also use the voucher mentioned further down in the threads to get another 5% off)

Snap!

This is still be running, got mine today

Checked this out but the closest store offering a pick up is more than 60 miles from where I live, and I don't fancy trying to find my way through Glasgow. Pity, but not worth it for me.

Picked up mine today and got a 250R, seems quite good for £27.55 plus 4% off for using Topcashback.

Thats fine by me, I'll find out how much postage will be and let you know.

I'm not sure how this should go as there was no for sale thread and no wanted thread so if any of the mods want me to jump through any hoops please speak now!

Guy's, I've no option but to remove these posts as we don't allow trading outwith classifieds.

It sounds right daft but can I ask you to start a thread in for sale and formalise your deal there. That way everythings above board and everyone continues to be treated equally :)

No problem, I've created a for sale thread HERE

thanks :)

I returned the one I bought from Jessops, to the Cambridge store this morning.. so there is at least one in stock now at the Green Street store (I never used it, the huge box put me off!)

So if anyone wants one.. there is one there!

Well, I placed an order for one of these here Velbon Sherpa tripods at the Wrexham store earlier this week, only to be told it had been on display and some scrote had nicked the QR plate....

Ah well! I thought, no tripod - but wait! - The chap in the Wrexham store searched the group and found a QR plate in stock at another store, and ordered it in. Bingo! I picked up my tripod earlier this morning.

Oh! Btw.... It was a 750R with a rather natty little carry bag, and 27.55ukp, and alittle extra dust from being on display as a freebie :)

Jessops usually get bad press hereabouts, but in my case over the last half week or so, they've pulled out all the stops, ringing me at all stages of the search and order process,

so, big THANKS (<-y'see what I did there ) to Jessops Wrexham branch.

-Rob
