Using USB-C (Lightning 3) for portable drive, 2015 MacBook?

Yes
I was just about to order one of these portable drives from Apple (http://www.apple.com/uk/shop/produc...-g-drive-mobile-usb-c-portable-drive?fnode=5f) but realised it is only compatible with USB-C ports. It looks like an awful lot of the new equipment coming out is USB-C. Does anybody know if there is an adapter available so that I could use this with my MacBook? My MacBook is the mid 2015 one, without the CD drive.

Really p****d to be completely honest, to spend so much money on a piece of equipment that was to become incompatible with new products the next year.

If there are no adapters available, could anyone recommend a different portable drive? Looking for 1TB, preferably attractive piece of equipment!

Thanks in advance.

As Suomi states, a backwards compatible cable is included in the box. Surely that is a good thing? Don't understand the outrage to be p***ed by that...

yup as above in the box:

USB Type-C to Type-C cable
USB Type-C to Type-A cable (for backward compatibility)

otherwise you can get spare USB-C to A 3.0 cables on Amazon for about £3.

Sorry, I think you misunderstood my post. I am not purchasing the new MacBook Pro, I bought mine when it was new last year. I need an adapter so that I can use all the new USB-C equipment, and I'm struggling to find one.

I was unable to find this adapter on it's own in the Apple store. Will this work to connect my 2015 MacBook Pro to new USB-C equipment?

Oh my goodness, sorry guys! I just realised what @Suomi was referring to. It's been a long night! I didn't read the 'whats in the box' details! THANK YOU! And apologies!

@dejongj
:) As Chris Evans used to say, only easy when you know it :)

Yes, so long as it's USB and not Thunderbolt... (e.g. You couldn't use such a cable to connect the new LG monitors Apple are selling to an old MacBook Pro)
