Yes
Does anyone know if I can mount the trigger for the 602 on the trigger for the YN-04-II (stack them) then attach them on my D40 and use the two receivers together?

If the signal passes through then yes...

I found out on Sunday that if you get 2 602 receivers/trigger sets on the same channel then stick one receiver on the camera flash hot shoe and one transmitter on top of it then stand back and press the other trigger it will start firing and carry on for ever :)

I guess it must work then as the signal can pass to a second flash that can be mounted on the YN-04-II trigger.

Have you found an application for your endless firing flash?

Not yet :)

Could be handy if you wanted to become a mobile DJ.

Ha Ha.... It only flashed about 5 times and I stopped it. All transmitters and receivers still working :)

I think that I need another pair of 602s but Canon ones this time. So that I have a Canon lead for the inevitable Canon visitors to my studio. Do you have any Sony 602 leads or do I need to make some :)

YongNuo actually list a Sony version of the RF602, I've never seen one though, nor have I ever seen any Sony-fit cables...

Now that I have ripped them to pieces and used their guts for building other things I have already made replacement leads for other things :) I can make a 602 remote lead for any camera if their is a wired remote for it.......

The alternative is....

That'll be the one, plus some Canon leads :)

How much is that adapter for the Sony? Is it cheap?

Do other brands just work with the normal hot shoe transmitter?

It's cheap yes, drop me a pm ;)

Not sure what you mean by the last bit....

I have just tried my YN-04 with the 602 piggy backed and it does not work as I had hoped :(
Just commenting in case someone has the same bright idea in the future

If you use Sony you may be better off with a Pixel Pawn TF-363 or Hahnel Combi TF as they don't need adapters and will support flash wake-up. If you use non-Sony flashes with a Sony camera, you might be able to buy the Iso receivers and they would be wirelessly compatible with the iIso transmitter.

sorry to hijack the thread. Is there any way of attaching a trigger to the body using a cable? So that the hot shoe is left free for a flash?

It depends on the body and trigger. Some triggers have a sync port so a sync port on the camera and a short sync to sync lead would allow this.

rf602 and 5DMK2.

does it plug into the side of the camera, where you would attach a wired remote?

I've not done this with the 602 but there is a sync port on the front of the transmitter so possibly a cable from there to the camera. Might be worth checking before you do but it would make sense.

Graham - any thoughts? :help:

Yes it is as I thought. The PC sync socket on the front of the TX is for making the transmitter transmit without using the hot shoe.

Link to US ebay auction : HERE

You need a PC sync to PC sync cable that is really short as in the above auction.

The above auction has FREE shipping to the UK and is $5.50 might buy one :)

For those who don't already have RF-602s, you could use the Phottix Strato that's just been released. It has an extra hotshoe on top of the transmitter.

thanks darren, i just bought 2.

these would be really handy, because i've experienced the tx falling out of the hotshoe on many occasions and missed a shot due to the flashgun not firing. Also I can just leave it attached when shooting so I don't have to keep taking it out of my pocket and switching with the flash everytime.

Just in case anybody breaks their RF602 receivers by trying to fire a flash that has too high a voltage check out my new thread :)

I might well buy another. Having taken the RF602s apart I am thinking of building a box where you can select banks of triggers........

How would anyone like a box that you plug one receiver and up to 4 transmitters into then you can fire any combination of the transmitters by flicking buttons for each channel on the box.

So 1 channel for light box, 1 for back light, 1 for key light and 1 for main light running on channels 2,3,4,5 with a transmitter on the camera firing channel 1 and a receiver attached to the box on channel 1

I'm sure there was someone on Flickr that built the transmitter into a battery grip, if you had, say the Nikon MB-D200 type it would be dead easy to fit the gubbins from a tx into one of the battery slots and run the cable out the front and up to the pc port....

I was thinking of building a box powered by 3 AA batteries with 4 buttons and 4 lights on the top. Use one trigger to fire the box and one receiver that plugs into the box THEN using the buttons you can fire any/all of the 4 channels. It would cost:

1 box
3 AA batteries and holder
4 buttons
4 LEDs
5 3.5mm sockets

a few diodes, resisters and other tiny bits. Probably cost of about £10-15 and done as a project on here.
