i have photoshop 2 and quite a beginner at how to use it being used to dumbed down software like photofiltre and picasa 2

recently i saw how well the double exposure thing could be done with layers..as i understand it

i think there are layer facilities on ps2...and i will be trying to find out how to use them and why...

i would dearly like to 'improve' my shots in any way possible from my lowly 4Mp jpegs

any advice and help would be appreciated..so as to speed up the process a bit
my 67 year old brain tends to not 'understand fully' anything new

cheers

Hi,
I have sent you a PM
Regards
John

John has been a great help...now with some ps for dummies instruction i now understand a bit about layers
i see they are an echo of the adjustment techniques i have been using but in separate files...layers
except sharpening..i use unsharp mask...

big thanks to the guys on this forum (biker..;)..as well as i enter the 21st century photography regimes..and try to improve my shots

i am now considering a separate monitor since the laptop screen viewing is variable with the angle i look at it at...usually around perpendicular...

a small...14" crt could do it i think...??

i know my place

ps when i do the layers...they wont sharpen until after i have saved as a jpeg
is this correct

Generally sharpening should be applied after you have done the resize as you will need different amounts of sharpening for different sizes.

Edit: Just seen your other link, to clarify it's Elements 2 mrcrow has.

i use the unsharp mask and set it at

threshold 40 radius 4 and usually it is around 40-80 to sharpen

i havent a clue what they all do and it could be i am just missing the essential ways to get better sharpness...usually my shots are sharp to start with elsewise..bin..
its after the pp and resizing i feel i am losing loads of sharp detail
post soon
