Using a macro Ring Flash

Have just ordered one of these:

which appears to be the marumi drf14 in disguise!

am I correct in assuming the way to use this is:

set camera to manual, shutter speed to 1/200th (flash sync) aperture to something quite small to get depth of field, and let the flash take care of exposure?

That all sounds right to me, and it's how I use my sigma flash on TTL lead. I look forward to seeing some results from the flash as I also noticed the DRF-14 connection and have been thinking of trying one of these.
