Just bought a Jessops flashgun and am looking for some help. I'm taking some nightclub pictures and will eventually be doing some wedding reception shots too. I'm wondering about the whole metering process and how I go about it? I'm very confused about the exposure triangle when using a flash?

Some help for a novice flash photographer would be great!

Best advice is buy a book and search around on u-tube

Practice - fail - practice - fail - practice - succeed

In all seriousness you will make a few mistakes with a flashgun at first. I did read lots about strobing but didn't start learning until a was making mistakes then making adjustments.

Is the flashgun Manual, Auto or TTL?

For that type of shot I shoot manual, flash set to around 1/8th or even 1/16th power, wide open, and drag the shutter speed, around 1/8th second. That way you get the ambient from the lights in the club, and the short flash duration freezes the subject. Rear curtain sync.
Try it, and experiment, it's fun !
