Hi

I've bought a used lens, only to later discover a screw sticking out! (I did notice it didn't glide onto the body as I might expect).

Does anyone know what these screws are there for, why it's not easily tightened?

The lens seems good, AF and Aperture works.

Normally I'd take it to my local camera man but his shop is closed ... CameraWorld, don't know why.

I'd say it's not the correct screw for the hole if it's supposed to be like the other ones in the image. The screw head looks too big.

Can you get a refund?

Is that not there to ensure that the lens doesn't get pushed too far around the mount and cause damage?
Like THIS notice.

You could name the lens and see if anyone else has one to compare?

It’s to stop the lens turning to far.. perfectly normal. can be seen on most images of that lens online.

It wasn't until today, when I took a photo of it, that I could see properly, see that the screw is not out of a hole. It clearly can't go in any further.

And, although the screw is tiny, the lens is not gonna go on the body if it's supposed to be flush or sunken like the other one next to it.

At least if anyone else spots this they'll now know it's not a problem :D

This lens (7-14) was so cheap, too good to be true, I thought there just had to be something wrong with it. And the fact it's just a teeny bit less smooth when twisting it into place onto the camera, I thought the protruding screw was the problem. I've even been reluctant to detach it in the last week or two since I've had it, in case it was damaging the camera body.

HERE

It looks terribly dusty in the pic above (the OP). I've never cleaned the rear of a lens, never even touch it.

So ... a gently hoovering or the rocket blower? Are these lenses sealed at the rear, if not, I guess the blower could blow dust in?

Can't see the pic, I get a 'No entry' type symbol.
Can you hold the lens upside down and brush with a soft hair painting brush?
