Use 600ex-RT to control 2nd 600ex-RT ?

Afternoon all

I am just wondering if you can use one on-camera Canon EX600-RT flash to control the output of a second one?

Kind of like using an ST-E3 to control the off-camera flash, but do it with an on-camera one?

Trying to keep things as simple as possible and wondered if this can be done?

Could you, in really simple terms, explain how I would do this?

Simply have 1 600exRT on camera, one off-camera, link the two (press LINK on flash unit) then go into the menu to control it?

Just thinking out loud now really...

If I was controlling an off-camera flash, via my on-camera flash as MASTER, and only wanted the off-camera flash to fire, I would need to disable master flash firing in the menu, wouldn't I?

It's not something I've actually done myself, but in one of Syl Arena's videos (on his website), he shows that you can use your on camera 600 as just a radio master with the flash not firing.

Being radio don't the higher end Canon 6D, 5D3, 1DX have the ability to fire the Canon 600ex rt wirelessly out of the box?

Then I'd say, unless you really have money to burn; don't.

It's about the most expensive way to achieve a single off camera flash.

No camera has built-in radio mastering of remote guns. Some pop-up flashes can do light-code mastering.
