I have just purchased a 5mp USB Microscope from Amazon, it came with a software CD

I have iMac running macOS High Sierra V 10.13.2 - the iMac has no CD Drive so I downloaded the software, MicroCapture Pro Version 3.0.0 from the manufacturer's web site.
I unzipped the (for Mac) file and opened the MicroCapturePro Application ........ the program opened OK

As stated in the instructions, I then plugged in the Microscope to a USB port on my iMac - USB 3.0 bus

I then opened the MicroCapture Pro Software

The software opened but did not see the Microscope and the error message “No device detected, please connect you Microscope to your PC USB port" was given

If I look at the System Information on my Mac,......... the Microscope is shown as being connected to a USB port, (USB Device Tree - USB 3.0 Bus)

I have tried all 4 USB ports - I have switched the iMac off and on a couple of times but no joy

I cannot find any useful information on the net

Can anyone help?

I have a similar problem if my optical drive is not directly plugged into the back of my iMac. I have a 4 socket USB extender and if I use that, the optical drive is not found.

so is the problem because the 4 USB ports in the back of the iMac are really a 4 port hub?

I have the same problem with the install on my MBP

the box says USB 2.0 but the iMac and MBP are USB 3.0 .... I thought that they were compatible at least backwards .......... but one guy in the reviews said that it did not work with USB 3.0 but did with USB 2.0
