Hi all,
I’m sick of fumbling round the back of the 27 inch Imac and unplugging USB cables. I’m looking for a I have a mixture of USB 2 and USB 3 devices / cables etc so I’m looking for a hub that’s compatible. Ideally one that doesn’t need an external power supply, has a minimum of 4 ports.
Im running a late 2013 Imac with latest OS. From the USB I run Phone, Spider pro, Card reader, backup USB3.0 ED drive, and USB keys for client images.
I already have this one, for USB2.0 - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001UE6OC8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Any recommendations?

USB 3.0 is a minefield. I tried 2 different ones and neither worked properly for very long. Mac compatibility seems to be particularly bad. I'd stick with usb 2.0.

I'm using a plugable 7 port usb 2.0 one but it has an external psu. Some you can run with or without, I can't remember whether it is ok without. It's been fine. The last usb 2.0 one I had went weird and I was having endless issues with scanners not working, disappearing and generally being a pain. With this one I've not had any bother at all.

My old Macbook was terrible with USB stuff: really temperamental with many non-apple cables and often working very slowly with USB memory sticks that were fast elsewhere or even failing completely. Do Apple offer a hub, because that will be your best bet?

It's worth having a powered hub, since a standard port doesn't provide very much power and it's easy to go over the limit (in my case having a keyboard, mouse, webcam would take it to the limit, and adding a USB memory stick would produce a warning that there wasn't sufficient power).
