All,
I need your urgent help and images / evidence. Hundreds of acres of Green belt wildlife habitat is under threat in BILLERICAY alone.

I have been reviewing the local plans for Billericay that have been submitted by Basildon Council in regards to their development of Green belt land.

The plans include thousands of houses and a new road cutting through green belt that is home to Barn Owls, Little Owls, Sparrow hawks and Badgers and Bats.

The proposed land they intend to use would be a huge loss to wildlife. (I am not against the need / building of homes. I am against using precious green belt to do so when there are other viable alternatives)

The council have no obligation to build on Green Belt and can, if they so choose, challenge government set targets thus reducing the need for Green belt Development.

I need your images / stories / evidence PROVING activity of wildlife, particularly protected species such as Badgers, Bats, Owls Voles etc.

primarily I cover Billericay, Essex so if you know of / have details of ANYTHING that may be of use please please get in touch.

Hundreds of acres of Green belt wildlife habitat is under threat in BILLERICAY alone.

I hope that's OK to post here,

PM me if you have anything useful. Your help is very much appreciated.

Kind Regards
Greg

A link to the plans might help...

Thanks. I did think about putting a link to the plans but they are hundreds of pages long. the borough council aren't making a single development, its lots of smaller developments of a couple of hundred houses. They are leaving gaps between the developments that I have no doubt will be earmarked for future development thus infilling further greenbelt. It realy is quite scary just howopen ended this could be. Not only this there is NO provision in the plans for infrastructure etc.

So if I may, I would like to request any info for BILLERICAY. No matter where or what was seen. It may be that a waxwing was seen near, as opposed to on, a proposed site, this is fine as it adds weight as the habitual coverage of the bird would impact the planned site.

So ANYTHING from Billericay would be of use at the moment.

We are up against the clock too. The council released the plans in January and have given us the MINIMUM STATUTORY REQUIREMENT of 6 weeks (they could have given 8) to respond.

Fair enough, I'm in a weird position any as I live in a rural area, and the local council here recently published a paper on areas where development could be an option in our village, this naturally caused outrage on the whole, but personally speaking I want to see some more housing within the village within reasonable levels

Greg,I'm miles away but seeing sites spring up all over the place here,we have 3 alone in our village,. Mate i'm a bit of an amphibian nut,I think it might be worth digging into what ponds there are on any of the potential building sites and scouring locals' knowledge for areas inhabited by great crested newts this might not stop potential development but it will hold things up as and possibly give more time before any ground works can comence. This will continue while we (humans) keep breeding though Greg. The UK population is never going to act as a collective and all just have one child,so nowt much will stop all this. We had a massive campaign run here against a large development probably with some serious funding the site/s went ahead. I actually work in this industry mate it might be a means of lively hood and new homes are needed, but I too wish there was more thought going into all this it's incredibly sad what is being lost and it can't be by and large replaced Green belt just seems a potential building site now and with so much money being made by big building companies I fear for our more wild places.

All the luck mate sorry to be so pessimistic

Stu
