Anyone on here do it?

We used to poke around old derelict buildings as kids but I haven't done anything like it for ages. Was browsing the net for some photographic inspiration and came across http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/forums/index.php - never realised it was so organised and widespread!

Anyway, just thought I would share :cuckoo:

Your thoughts? Apart from the obvious one of getting chucked out of places by security guards, that is :nono:

Nope, but used to follow that site alot, then it seemed to get less and less activity - TBH didnt realize it was still running

Can understand its appeal and if the opportunity was present I might even have ago, although not got much like that round here.

Suppose it would be quite interesting, until someone falls down a lift shaft they didnt realize was there and gets killed ;)

Crikey ... almost thought you had re-directed me back here EO ... looks spookily like TP forums ... :D

:P

I don't get what the forums are about? And why are they called 28 days later?

be interesting to have a wonder round with the old camera in tow

Oh wow, looks amazing! At first glance I thought it was some chavvy thing people had going on.. Is it legal?

Gonna sign up at that forum now.`

28 days later refers to a film of the same name, where IIRC it's set in a post apocalyptic world where there are only few survivors left.

It's all about Urban Exploration of disused, and de-commissioned sites, like old Asylums and Factories etc, that have closed down, some years and years ago, and have lay dormant since.

They go in, take photos, and explore.

I'd love to do it myself if I'm honest, just don't know anyone else locally that does it.

Is it legal?

Most certainly not, unfortunately. At the very least you'd be commiting the civil offense of trespass.

Is it *morally* OK to do though? That's a whole 'nother question.

Is it legal -

28days later is one of my favorite places on the net to visit.

I really like local history, especially places I know.

There is some great photos on there, especially of inside batersea power station

Just signed up. Is it legal was a bit of a silly question I know, but I didn't know what it was all about then, read up on it a bit now.

If you're on 28 Days later, whats your username? Mines Nath, same as here.

Yeah, or you could find someone in your area off of 28 Days Later, Marcel?

I think there is someone on there near me. (I'm already registered on there :D Have been for donkeys ;))

There are absolutely tons that live near me! Tons of shots from places that I walk past most weeks! The main one being Rover.. I pass Rover almost every day, such a shame it's being nocked down.

Theres always someone outside with a tripod and an SLR though, never inside.

there was a classic thread on there not long after rover closed, some great dark pics of the factory floor with a pump truck in the distance. cant find the thread now though

I've been searching threads on there for ages from Birmingham/longbridge/rover, not foud what your talking about either.. Maybe it was deleted.

I think it was :(

I was linked to it from another forum at the time, hence how i found 28days later.

Have you done any UE then Chris? Just had my account activated so posting now.

I recently explored an old railyway line that runs through an old village near Folkestone in Kent, but thats about it. Would be great to go to somewhere like Shefield, LOADS of old factories there. I dont think ive ever posted on there, I just lurk. Some of the photography is amazing though. Suprised people havent linked this forum with TP before to be honest

Nath,

Be careful entering Rover. They still have security patrolling as the assets of the building were sold to the Japanese firm that have taken it over.

The last plans I heard for the place was that a section of the building was to be kept to produce a few cars per year towards the latter part of 2007 while the res was going to be knocked down and sold as real estate and business premises.

Marcel is right about the legality of it...

http://www.naturenet.net/law/common.html

Despite the well known sign "Trespassers will be Prosecuted" trespass is not a criminal offence, and trespassers cannot usually be prosecuted. They can, however, be sued. There is little chance of such a matter ever being so serious as to be worth suing over, and so this rarely happens.

Basically, if you damage anything, break anything or steal anything then it becomes a criminal offence.

I guess you could always go about it in a different way and actually approach the landowners directly to perhaps get a guided tour?

Anyway, I've signed up on those forums with the same username as on here. If I end up exploring anywhere then I'll certainly post the pics :)

Nice share!

Didn't even think there would be any organised interest on such an activity but it does seem to make sense!

I never knew that there were:
A) Some of the places that are shown on these sites
B) People who go out looking for em

Definitley interesting... from my armchair

Something I'd love to explore more - not sure a TP meet would be all that inconspicuous in an abandoned factory though!
I drive past several empty and vandalised office buildings in Birmingham every day, I'd imagine some of them would give some fascinating photos.
Some incredible stuff on DeviantArt where people have snuck in to places (you can normally find them by browsing the "industrial" section)
