I am unsure about which file to upload - can someone give me advice?

If say I want a 10 x 8 print - do I upload the biggest file that I have, i.e. a .psd file after adjustment or do I produce a smaller jpeg and upload that

I know it may make sense to upload the biggest KB or MB file that I have but what is the best "file" to upload to these on-line companies to get prints

Thanks

so to summarise

1). Take RAW or whatever Image
2). 100% crop down to the size that I want, 10 x 8, 3 x 2, 16 x 9 or whatever
3). Adjustments in PS, LR or other PP and produce .psd file
4). Convert to .jpg with no pixel size restriction

Yep, make sure you save the jpeg at 300ppi

No.

You should make your adjustments before resizing. Otherwise you'll lose quality if you then decide to print larger.

For example a 10x8 print requires about (10*300)*(8*300) pixels which is 7.2 megapixels, and that's probably quite a lot less than you're starting with. If you resize, edit, print, and then you like it so much you want to print at 15x12 or 20x16, you have to choose between (1) up scaling your 7.2MP image and losing quality; or (2) going back to the full size original and recreating the edits.

I would just make sure the image is the correct crop ratio and a reasonable file size, most labs will render the image themselves anyway at there printers DPI before adding it to the print q as different printers look at files differently, some print the image based on the images size, others based on the images pixels and the DPI setting.
